Trees Have Been Growing Here Since 1960

Originally, as with most tree farms, the property, located in the gently rolling fields of Parma, Michigan, was used as cow pasture until the early 1960s.

It was purchased by Onarga Nursery in 1970, and at one point they were growing trees on over 200 acres in the Parma area.

In 2003, as southeast Michigan was under siege by the Emerald Ash Borer, and the cry was going up for massive tree replacements, the 56-acre farm, including most equipment and infrastructure was purchased by Dan and Jane Riddle, owners of Lodi Farms Nursery in Ann Arbor.

The focus soon shifted to growing a wide selection of hardy, native and non-native tree varieties, to provide choices for a diversified tree canopy for cities and neighborhoods alike.  During the last 17 years, the tree farm supplied not only Lodi Farms Nursery with wonderful trees, but several nurseries, landscape contractors, municipalities, and non-profit groups as well.

In 2021. Lodi Farms' owners Dan and Jane Riddle sold the retail portion of the nursery and kept the tree farm, renaming it "Trees Of The Field LLC" based on the Bible verse Isaiah 55:12 "You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands"

Most of our trees begin as root pruning potted liners, all are drip irrigated, and cared for by staff with a total of over 110 years of experience growing and caring for trees.
